I thought it would be fun to rank
the Captain America movies in order of quality
1.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) (by a huge
margin; Chris Evans is completely convincing as a hero someone who didn't have any
sort of childhood trauma but just wanted to fight bullies because it was the
right thing to do)
2.
Captain America serial (1944) (Dick Purcell’s is the
least faithful Cap depiction but the serial works on its own level, which isn't
entirely true of the below)
3.
Captain America (1990) (Matt Salinger is okay as Cap
and it does have nice bits with Sharon, the movie’s version of Peggy Carter; it’s
just a bit off)
4.
Captain America (1979/TV) (time passer at best; Reb
Brown does okay with lackluster material in both TV movies)
5.
Captain America II: Death Too Soon (1979/TV) (while the
costume and action were better than the first TV movie it was also campier)
